The new warehouse addition to the manufacturing facility
Our firm completed construction of a new precast, reinforced concrete building with dimensions of 46,0 x 30 meters in September 2010. The new building is an addition to the existing manufacturing facility built in 2004.
Concept of a new design was required to meet a possibility to reload the material from existing building to the new addition with a crane of lifting capacity 20 tons.
The main load-bearing system of the structure is designed as a frame with embedded columns into shallow foundation and sloped roof girder with pinned connection on columns. The designed headroom height below the roof girder is 12 meters. As a part of the roof structure, there is designed a steel lateral bracing to eliminate horizontal deflection of the gable columns. There are perimeter R/C beams and steel crane girders as a part of the lateral longitudinal bracing of the structure. In order to eliminate column drifting from crane lateral braking forces, there is designed a steel X-bracing.
The roof load bearing membrane is constructed from corrugated metal panels. The roof skylight with size of 3,0 x 29,5 meters is supported by roof beams.
The building cladding is designed as a horizontal oriented sandwich panel with PUR core of thickness 80 millimeters. Due to very high parapet wall of the building envelope above the roof level, there is designed steel reinforcing structure supporting sandwich panels to sustain wind load.
As a part of the building envelope, there are precast, reinforced concrete sandwich panels with load bearing wythe 120mm thick + insulation 80mm thick + non load bearing wythe 60mm thick. The building envelope also includes windows with dimensions of 1,5 x 5,0 meters and one large window with size of 2,8 x 18,5 meters. The window material is designed from twin wall polycarbonate panels.
